Looking for HOW to fund our SEL program?

  • ESEA - Provides funding for elementary and secondary education, including professional development, instructional materials, and other resources and initiatives.

  • ESSER  (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund) - School districts may apply for ESSER funding through their state educational agency or SEA.

  • IDEA (The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) - This fund is allocated for student who have disabilities, learning challenges or children with IEP’s. Refer to your state, district, and school for information on the amount of funds allocated for the specific students you serve.

  • State Department of Education Be sure to check in with your state department to learn more about funding resources that are available and specific to the areas in which you work.

  • Fundsnet Services - Use this database of funding sources to find Education & Literacy grant options.

  • The Federal Grants database - You can narrow down this database by grade band to find available grant opportunities. “Race to the Top” seems to be a popular one with a large pool of funds.

  • Children’s Funding Project - This fund helps communities find federal funding available to states, tribal areas, counties, cities, towns, school districts, and local nonprofit organizations to support children and youth.

  • Local businesses and charitable foundations are often eager to supplement school budgets to promote SEL/Life Skills Programs through donations, grants, and fundraising events. 

  • Educational Service Centers (specific to Ohio), hospitals, and community mental health agencies may also purchase a curriculum and develop a partnership with the school to deliver.
